I mean this whole thing has come off as a double whammy of both racism and rape being funny. I mean I know every one is laughing at how ridiculous the guy is and not at the fact that the girl got raped but still. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just my white male guilt talking. Played out pop punk that was lame ten years ago is making a strong push for relevancy I suppose.

This made me pretty uncomfortable, especially when Hayley does her impressions. I wonder if she was wearing blackface when she recorded this.

@Ryan, I disagree.  Because of the way Antoine handled the situation and took matters into his own hands re: the autotuning and basically all of the social media surrounding his original video, I don’t think it’s a laughing at situation.  He’s taking advantage of it to better his life and get exposure for the situation (although, I haven’t heard anything about the attacker getting caught yet), and in his most recent interview this morning with the Today Show noted he’s using the money from the song and other things to get his family into a safer neighborhood.  He’s making the best out of a shitty situation and he’s not upset over how the song blew up, so I don’t think anyone else should be either.

However, @Jose, I totally agree that Hayley Williams in this recording is making it a laughing at situation.  If you listen to some of the other covers, no one else is making fun of his accent like she does.
