Lifter Puller- “I Like The Lights”
There really isn’t a better band than Lifter Puller for a Cisco drunk. It’s that combination of epic tingles, wanton tendancies, crackling synapses, and crunktastic overload. It’s the only drunk that makes you say the smartest thing ever (and have it hold up to later scrutiny) immediately before attempting to fight a parked car. Lifter Puller is the same way, so much eloquence and bad behavior. Such disregard for conventional singing over such a smart, punchy, but unequoivocally tossed off version of indie rock.
One of my favorite Lifter Pullers lines is from the song Nice, Nice: “Remember Jenny back from, “I Like the Lights?”, she said…” Self referential lyrics like that are one of the quickest ways to my heart.
